10 Months Out!!

This week was a good one, Elder Borges came to my area this week and we did splits for the week.  It was fun to catch up with him.  We found some great new investigators this week.  A boy named Douglas that we invited to church showed up at our house 7 am ready to go.  He showed up even before I was ready, haha.  It was definitely different, cause normally we will go to every investigator’s house and wake them up, they sometimes will make an excuse and not go, but not him.  He showed up ready.  It was for sure the miracle of the week.  He is a super cool kid too.

This week I completed 10 months in the field serving so we went out to eat all you can eat pizza and all you can drink juice.  We went out with my district and had a competition.  I ended up leaving so full I ran behind a dumpster and threw up.  Everyone was laughing it was super funny cause normally I will never throw up.  Then we went home in a taxi and I was fake throwing up the whole time messing with the taxi driver, it was super funny.  It was for sure a day to remember.

Also this week I got offered to be a girl’s boyfriend but unfortunately I declined again, hahaha, and then explained why we can’t date girls for two years.  Then Sunday I gave a talk in church.  I talked about missionary work in the ward and how we all need to come together like a family and work hard together to help our ward grow.  I forgot I had to give a talk until Saturday night after 10:30.  I was laying in bed and remembered so I winged it.  I think it turned out well.

Mossoro Really is Blessed

Amazing week!  This week we taught Priscilla every single day.  She ended up liking it so much she invited two friends and her parents to listen.  Now we got them all lined up and prepared for baptism.  Mossoro really is blessed and has a ton of people that are prepared to meet missionaries, and receive the restored gospel in their lives.  We also have another boy that is prepared and will be baptized next week.  Before I got to this area other missionaries were working with this boy.  But he never ended up getting to church with them in 7 weeks.  Then we showed up and made friends with him.  He ended up going to church with us and accepting baptism on the spot.  Which was great.

Me and my comp are getting along great.  We are always laughing and joking around.  But when we teach we use the spirit.  It’s going great, I am loving every minute here.  We found a family of 12 to teach this week, that are super interested and then another older couple that is interested too.  It will be a great week.  We’re going to talk to all of them about baptism then try and commit them all to be baptized next week, it will be great.  The family of 12 we found has a girl that is 16 and her mom already lined me up to be her boyfriend.  I had to explain why I can’t be her boyfriend, haha it was funny.

Also, I love competitions.  So I got the whole zone in on a competition.  It’s funny I always have the other elders competing against me trying to win something.  I only lost one competition this week and it was Verjo this giant elder, it was who could eat 1 liter of acai the fastest.  I barely lost but I am coming back this week ready to win, hahaha.  But that’s about all that happned.

Until next week.

Transfers and Awesome Week

Awesome week!  Don't even know where to start. But, I will start here.  I got transferred to another area called Belo Horizonto in Mossoro with a new elder named Elder Alvec.  The goodbyes were hard.  I spent 5 months working there so I became really close with the whole ward/city.  I say city because I now know every single person on every single corner in the city about.  The sisters that are now working there told me every person they see asks about me and what happened and where I went. And most are pretty depressed I left.  haha.  It is nice to know this because it means I did a little good.  But now it is over and I am in a new area. And let me tell you, I am loving the new area! It has only been 5 days, but I can tell the work will be great here. The only thing I ever heard about Mossoro was, "Mossoro is hot". Now that I am here, I can tell you it is hot,  I think it might be the hottest place on the planet. But it is cool- I am enjoying it.  You wake up sweaty, sleep sweaty, shower sweaty, study sweaty, but is is all part of the adventure.

We found a girl this week named Priseta. She is 21 and is awesome.  She came to church with us and will be baptized this week. She loved church and loved learning from us this week.  She invited her mom and dad to join in the lessons next week, and we plan on inviting them to be baptized, also.

But that wasn't even the best part of the week.  The best part of the week was that an apostle came and spoke with us.  It was Russell M. Nielsen.  It was super good.  He talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and family history and our lineage.  He also talked a lot about exact obedience.  It was great and super spiritual.  He bore his testimony on the Book of Mormon and it made perfect sense.  Every little word he said was inspired by God.  I loved it. I was pretty tired, but  I loved it.

It was super fun, too, because the night before the apostle, everyone in our zone went to the same church at 9:00 at night.  Because our bus would be leaving the church at 7:00 in the morning.  So everyone went to the church and we played cards and games practically all night.  Then drove five hours to the Capitol to watch Russel M. Nielsen speak.  Then I got to catch up with all the other missionaries from our mission- which is alway a good time. Then we drove back 5 hours and got to work again.

This week was dope.  I love the mission, I love sweating, and I love apostles.  Every moment of every day Deus has planned for us.  So just keep walking down the right path and everything will work out.

I'm Here to Work, Not Sit Around and Waste Two Years of my Life

Well another great two weeks.  Sorry I didn’t write last week, I didn’t have much time.  Me and Elder Cain are still going strong with our second dead beat companion.  We scored this transfer getting put with (in my opinion) 2 of the worst missionaries in our mission, haha.  The other Elder that we were with got sent home early, he only had 2 weeks left of his mission, but ended up getting sent home early.  And now me and Cain are with an Elder that doesn’t want to leave our apartment to go out and work.  This week I ended up just leaving and if he wanted to follow along he could and if he didn’t want to we just locked him in the house for a little bit.  I am here to work, not sit around and waste 2 years of my life.  Enough about this, I wanna focus on the miracles I saw this week.

We were all eating dinner at a member’s house and after going home the sisters got food poisoning and so did my companion.  The sisters spent the entire night throwing up as well as my comp.  I got to give a blessing to both of the sisters and they ended up making it to church only fatigued with lack of sleep, and later after church being perfectly fine.  I love the power of prayer and the power of the priesthood.

Another miracle this week was that we moved houses and I learned how to become a handy man.  So now I can practically fix anything, haha.  And lastly this isn’t a miracle, but I saw a 4 year old girl twerking in the street.

Until next week,

Mother's Day

So another stellar week.  First off I got to talk with the fam again.  The second time on the mish.  Incredible as always.  I wasn’t having that hard of a time speaking English this time for some reason.  It was awesome catching up.  Only two more skype sessions and I will be headed home.  Haha.

Anyways, a little more about this week.  My and Elder Cain's baby companion that we were taking care of, got transferred to another area to finish his mission, because he got caught using his personal cell phone, hahaha!  So with our luck he got transferred, but just with our luck again we received another missionary to watch over that will be finishing his mission also this transfer.  He is a little bit better than the other one, but not my much.  But I am super good friends with him so it’s cool.  We ended up working pretty hard this week and baptized 3 boys named Jose, Rikilme, Ruan which was special.  We found them in a more poor area, one day I was talking with the mom of Rikilme, and she was so grateful for us.  Because we will help her boys stay off the streets by bringing them to Church and activities.  It was super humbling seeing 3 boys very excited to be baptized and stay in the Church.  We are also working on marrying his mom and dad, so that they can become members too.

I also finished the Book of Mormon and received a peaceful answer that it’s true.

That’s how my week went.

Full time babysitters and Irma got baptized!

Another incredible week.  Me and Elder Cain have become full time babysitters this week.  We have to babysit our other companion that’s heading home in 25 days.  Not going to lie, it’s like taking care of a stubborn 4 year old, hahaha.  But it is great I am learning a lot about patience and hard work.

Anyways, this week we baptized Daniel and Irma Fransisca.  Irma Fransisca was a very spiritual experience for me.  I got to interview her then baptize her.  But her story touches me and her faith changed me.  She’s an overweight 70 year old that decided she needed to follow her family and be baptized in our church.  She has tons of health problems and has lots of problems in her life.  But she decided to follow Christ and be baptized.  I got to share a message before her baptism, and I started getting a little emotional in front of all the ladies in our ward that were watching her baptism.  Then I got to baptize her.  The second after her baptism she looked at me and started bawling and said how when she came out of the water she felt a shock from head to toe and she told me she was cured and how God cured her.  It was special.  Then the next day in testimony meeting I bore my testimony on how she made my faith grow.  I said how she can’t even walk but she had the faith and trust in me to baptize her.  It was funny cause I was getting shout outs from the people bearing their testimonies saying how gentle and incredible it was.  Haha it was a very spiritual week.  Then Sunday we baptized Daniel.  He’s chill.

I learned a lot about the love Christ has for his children on earth.  This week I studied a lot about the attributes of Christ, in Preach my Gospel, and it truly brought me closer to Christ.  I recommend studying it if you have a chance.

Oh ya, my boy Ruan and his bro came to church.  I told them we are going to baptize him on the beach.  So I am expecting this to happen within the next few weeks.  But that’s about all.

New Comp - Now a Trio

This week was transfers, and I am staying another transfer in Nova Cidade.  I am excited cause we are doing some good work in this area.  I am staying with the same comp but we got a surprise call saying that we will be in a trio with an Elder that is finishing his mission this transfer and that we will have sisters in our area now too.  For the first time ever our area will have sisters.  This week we spent a lot of time showing the sisters around, showing them the dangerous areas, areas they can work and should not.  All the members are pumped to finally have sisters, it’s funny.

So, funny thing about the new Elder in our trio is this past week during P-day me and my comp went to anther zone to play soccer, and me being my competitive self, almost got into a fight with another Elder cause he was slide tackling everyone on my team and with my luck I am in a trio with him, haha.  It was awkward at first but now it’s chill.  I have only had to tell him a “few” times that there are still people in our house that are still serving missions.  But now we are homies, haha.

So, a little bit more about my week.  My favorite family in the world got married and baptized this week.  It was their wedding and it was so special and spiritual.  Vero completely stopped smoking and drinking and is loving the Church and Josianne is so happy to be baptized and a member now.   After about 4 ½ months of teaching and stopping by their house their wedding happened and they are now members.  It was dope.  And that’s how my week went.

Elder Meyer
